Good lens for the price A very good price and original Canon lens. As a novice I would say it was a good mid range telephoto lens for mid range telephoto needs. Just about right for birds and most wildlife you can get within a few hundred yards of. Great for close ups of things you can not get very close too. Still learning but it seems to to do the job I need it for in the main.

A fine lens for the money, but there are alternatives around I was curious to try this lens, having used a few STM lenses from Canon with my 70dThe lens is an update to the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II Lens. After a week of field shooting I’ve come to conclude the lens is good, but better matched for video users (thanks to the STM update), it is better than the older version but at a fairly hefty price hikeStronger points:+ Build is somewhat improved over the IS II version (better quality plastics feels somwhat better in the hand)…
