Buy this as your first lens! Seriously good for video & photography. I bought this solely to use for video on my Canon 600D. Very impressed. This is the default lens you should buy when you purchase a Canon 600D, 60D or 7D etc. The image stabilization when shooting video is brilliant. I shot some footage of the Edinburgh Christmas market, all handheld, and it could pass for being shot on a tripod.There’s none of that ‘jelly’ effect on the image when you use the zoom at most focal lengths. Ok but white box product should be better described Product seems to be ok and it’s imazing how silent the focus is … but It’s a white box product what was not written in the product description – contacted the seller to get at least invoice but no answer …

Top quality as you would expect from Canon. I am not a big fan of flash photography and the standard lens on the 100d does not have image stabiliser. I bought this one because it starts at 18 and gives a bit more zoom at 135 without making the 100d too big. Why buy the smallest SLR and then put a massive lens on it? Result, with image stabiliser switched on, a huge improvement in low light conditions, gives good sharp pictures showing more detail in the shadow areas without the harshness of flash – wont stop blur if the subject moves but…
