Still the best superzoom for Canon users Firstly, a short story. This lens and I have a chequered history: since it first went on sale in 2008 I’ve owned 4 of them! I sold the first one to get the Tamron 18-270, wasn’t happy with it, so re-bought the Canon (2nd lens). Some time later Sigma released the 18-250, so I sold the Canon again. I kept the Sigma for a year or so, but then tried the Canon again when the 7D DSLR came out, and bought it again (3rd lens). Then Tamron released the 16-300 which offered a substantial range increase…

A great multi-purpose lens This lens was purchased for one reason … travelling. If I’m out for the day, specifically to take photographs, then this lens won’t be with me. However, for those times you want to take your camera as part of another activity, then what better than the flexibility of an 18-200mm lens? Of course, it doesn’t have the true quality of an ‘L’ lens or even some of the more expensive EFS lenses like my 17-55mm f2.8. Great little lens! A friend had one of these and reccommended it to me! Glad he did! This is a compact multi purpose lightweight lens, it goes with my cropped sensor SLR giving me the equivalent of a 29 – 320 zoom! Unless you need to go to extremes, this is a one lens fits all product, and as keeping the weight factor down, is important to me, it’s ideal!
