Fantastic improvement over the standard kit lens. I bought this lens from Amazon Warehouse deals a couple of years ago at £400- it was a return and came without a Canon box, which is fine, I knew that. I felt I was taking a bit of a risk, but I couldn’t afford the original £900 this lens once commanded. I got it to go with my new Canon Rebel T4i, or the 650d in the UK. Well- I have never looked back. This lens is on my camera 95% of the time. The improvement in quality over the standard kit lens is AMAZING!- you can get results that are near…

Not cheap but when you see the quality you will realise why. A constant 1:2.8 throughout the range allows low light operation and gives a fantastic short depth of field when required. This lens is very sharp and is producing some stunning photographs.I was concerned before purchase that I would miss the extra zoom of my previous ‘walk about’ 17-85 lens but in practice you can’t notice the difference unless you do a back to back comparrison. This is a great go-to lens and will rarely be of my camera from now on.

good let’s not discuss the cost, this was a lot of money to spend but the range it gives me, coupled with the large aperture and quality really does produce some fantastic pictures on my 60D. the kids are only young once so we’ll treasure the photos this has produced. i was particularly pleased with the IS function which really works it’s magic when you’re chasing the kids round the house for that special photo.
