Good for beginners and first-time prime-lens users Great prime lens for entry-level photography, I’m not the biggest fan of this but I have no real complaints – it’s more of a personal preference issue for me.AF is fast and sharp, comes with case, visual focal ring is good, however it can be misleading as the symbols are much bigger than the actual possibility for focal change – there is some play involved, for example, focusing at infinity may be just before or just out, you must use other means to correctly focus accurately…

Woodland perfection ! i bought this lens to replace my Tamron 90mm macro lens , the reason was the Tamron was way to big and cumbersome to carry about on casual strolls , admittedly this little nikon has to be brought much closer to the subject to get life size images which can be a problem with insects but thats its only quirk , image wise its much sharper than the tamron is vastly superior handling wise and just seems right on a nikon DX body . im so happy i made the change over as i consider the Nikon 40 far…
