I have found its most responsive in AFC but still good in AFS Ignore any reviews pre firmware v3 (or v2), this lens has been transformed. Its not as fast to focus as the Zeiss 55mm but its perfectly suited to day to day shooting and the optics are punching well above its weight price wise.I have found its most responsive in AFC but still good in AFS, ergonomics are excellent (better than the 55), weight is perfect and the focus motor is not as loud as reviews suggest, not noticeable at all really once you get going (unless you have…

A quality lens at a very reasonable price. This is a great lens for your full frame sony e-mount. It does make a noise when focusing but I take photos not video so that doesn’t bother me. F1.8 has such a narrow depth of focus it’s really all you’ll need, f1.4 is great till you have to carry it around. This is a light well made lens and I’m very happy with the results.

Excellent shallow DOF lens Love the results from this lens. Ability to shoot in low level light and the almost non existent depth of field give your images a really professional quality. Wish I’d bought this when I first purchased my camera. The non full frame sensor on my 6300 means it’s more like a 70mm than 50mm of a full frame so have to back away from subject more than ideal but that’s the camera not the lenses fault.
